Have been doing a bit of research on this Amp, seems quite awesome for what it is....But, I have a bit of a problem with it's pricing.

If you're buying from the EU site it'll cost you 235 euro

However if you go to the .Com site you'll be able to pick it up for $265, which is about 195 euro.

I guess the 20% markup can be explained by VAT right? either way I'd be inclined to try for the US price if I were to get it.

Try the For Sale section on head-fi, you'll get one in good condition for a reasonable amount less I expect.

You're not gonna find one on Adverts, I'll tell you that for nothing ;)

Yeah adverts is more than useless when it comes to this type of gear....anyway maybe I'll get the amp next year :P

I was considering picking up an amp such as this as I got a pair of HD650 recently and most reviews suggested that an amp was needed - I'm running them directly off a Marantz CD52 MkII (very old, but love it!) and can hear no need for any amplification... on the other hand, my Cowon S9 struggles even at max volume and thats with FLAC encoded tracks so I guess thats where an amp is needed?

it could be that you've your s9 region set to europe, which kicks in an awful volume limitter, it's easy to get around by changing your region to 'rest of world'

Ok cool cheers, I'll try that so. When I tried them on it last week I had the volume up to max on the S9 and it was ok but not sufficient. Direct to the CD separate and the volume is probably only about 25% of the way which is more than enough.
