On the way to Athlone today and called into service station near Enfield to get petrol (and have a look) Got €40.01 worth of petrol. Handed in €40 and was asked for the 1c. Raised my eyebrows and guy behind counter said it was policy not to let people off if 1 or 2c over!
Will make a point of not filling up there again.

You won't stop there again because they made you pay for the fuel you used? Odd.

Margins on fuel are tiny by all accounts so 1 cent off would make a difference to a station's break even target on sales.

    Or....

It could be a brand new station that uses anal rules for the first few weeks. Chance it again in 6 months dude.

Every station has the same margins and most dont whinge about a cent

A guy I know owns a small rural station and he tells me that what he pays per tanker and what a large urban station pays is somewhat different and not in his favour; the more they shift the less they pay.

I don't expect Tesco or Eason's to let me off a cent all the time so I don't see why Applegreen or Topaz should though they are often good enough to do so :)

if you put in 39.95 and handed in 40 you would expect to get the change, why should it be any different when you go over, I expect to pay for what I got.
