I realise it is a pre-requisite for the course but can you do it in isolation from other leaving cert subjects?

If you're asking can you sit your Leaving Cert, obtain the required points, and then sit LC Chemistry on its own the following year, then yes, that satisfies the entry requirements for Dentistry, at least to the best of my knowlege.

I'm sure the School of Dentistry will be able to confirm this, and provide you with more information. You can contact them by sending an e-mail to info at dental dot tcd dot ie.

You should also come along to the open day, it's on Wednesday December 1st, bring along a list of questions and have them answered first hand.

    +1.
As far as I know, medicine is the only course (and all medicine courses, not just TCD) is the only course that you ahve to meet all the requirements in one sitting...

Not sure bout requirement, but I lecture first years chemistry for dentists and it's a pretty basic level, so even if you haven't done chemistry before you should have no problems.
