Mini Map - Outlined Team member

Its probably a very stupid question but why do some of my team members have their green triangle outlined in the mini map?

I believe that happens when they speak (or breathe, or sing) into their mics.

I remeber dying a few times hiding in a corner as I was muting the squeaky voiced pre-pubescent 12 year olds

Or just go to options and put voice volume down to 0. Its better than having to mute everyone at the start of a game.
