car insurance-will my premium jump up?

sorry if this is in the wrong place, I put it in pensions/insurance too..

    quick question...

Im currently insured with company A, myself and my partner, fully comp, and I paid extra to have full no claims bonus insured.

This policy expires in 24 hours from now, my missus has just rang to say she hit a car in a car park, paint damage and possible dent over wheel arch of other car. She left a note under the wiper with her details.

She wants to pay it herself, unless its too much in which case it will have to go through the insurance co.

I am not renewing with company A, I have already given payment to company B, insurance disk arrived today.

If this goes through the insurance company, what next? Do I have to call my new insurer to explain, and will my policy jump up, or will it remain the same as I have my NCB insured?

    pretty worried, thanks.

    Interesting one.

On your application for the new co. you presumably said "no claims". If this new application was before the accident I'd suggest you are ok. If not an it becomes a claim I suggest informing the new insurer.

well, assuming that I have to inform my new insurer, am I still able to say I have a full ncb, even if there is a claim agains my policy, as I paid to have my ncb insured?

If it proceeds through your insurance you will have to notify your new insurer. If it's outside of their acceptance criteria, you may have to cancel the policy from inception and then set up from renewal date with your original insurer.

You do not have a full bonus. Your bonus is nil. You paid your current insurer to protect this bonus in the event of a claim. A new company does not have to honour that discount but many do. Again, it depends on the company you are now with.

You probably have already received a copy of you NCB from company A and sent it on to the new insurer. As of yet you still have no claims against you. I would hold off and see what happens. You may end up paying yourself, to doesn't sound like much damage.
