Car Seat Repairs/Re-upholstering

Just wondered if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of/ recommend anyone who offers this service? Driver's seat of my car is worn/wearing away and is only going to get worse, so I'm looking to get it fixed up.

I've been to one place but they refused to repair on the basis that they couldn't guarantee side airbags would deploy, which seems fair enough. They could, however, guarantee them if the seat was re-upholstered, but only do leather so obviously that's going to be pricey enough! I'm not against the idea of leather, though, and i'm seriously considering it as I'll have the car for at least another 3/4 years.

Anyone got any ideas or advice?! :pac:

Sometimes it can actually be cheaper to purchase second hand seats from a scrapyard, rather then getting work done.

I've been thinking about it for my avensis. Leather seats with door cards cost about 400 from a scrap yard.

What kind of car do you have? So we could point you in the direction of a 2nd hand set of leather seats.

Douglas somewhere I believe, 'twas a lad in the trade (Autoglass franchise) gave me there number years ago but I didn't need them in the end. I passed the number on to a friend who needed work done on a Brooklands Capri, he was delighted with the work and the price and he is both awkward and tight :)

087 9131298 in the number I have for them :)

Holy jesus, I'm like Johnny Tightlips.:pac:

3 door, 04, the seats are dark grey/black around the edges and headrest with a black/white criss-cross design up the middle - same as the door panels.

Quite the ringing endorsement - Are you him?! :pac:

In fairness, it was him I've been to already and I'm that close to getting him to do it for me. Seems like a sound enough skin and he was recommended to me by someone I'd trust. Also saw one of their creations out there and it looked savage. But, like everyone else these days, I'd like to see if I can save a buck or two if I can first!

I got the following prices from the two 'big' Dublin outfits for a full leather retrofit incl. door cards earlier this year (for a car quite a bit bigger than an A3 - not sure if this makes a difference).

    Nolan (as above): €2400 approx.
    Cartronics : €1600.

Prices incl. VAT. Both have been recommended here in the past (Cartronics particularly WRT BMWs).

Who'd you go with in the end, or is that a silly question?

I'm not Derek, but I've used him for quite a bit of leather stuff, and everyone I know who has used Derek for stuff will recommend him too.
