He (the actor) will always be positive now so he's out of the business officially I assume.

Up to 14 people were believed to have been infected during on-camera sex with a male actor.

if this was 14 girls lucky guy, 14 guys lucky gay

*lucky if it wasn't for the HIV bit of course

this happened years ago aswell.. shut down the whole thing for 6 months or somthing BBC did a documentry about it.. It ended up that it could of gotten to like 1000 actors in a week or something as 1 person will do like 3 a day then 3 the next day with other guys and so on.. it just spirals and spirals..

Doesent HIV take 6 months to come up in tests? so the 30 day test is a bit useless?

I'm sure it'll cost them a fortune in compensation for the actors involved.

Gives a whole new meaning to "money shot"..

I reckon it'll be in their contracts that they undertake these actions at their own risk, or some other such bollocks to screw them out of compensating the victims.

You've made a pretty common mistake there. Porn actors aren't actually people. They don't feel things like we do.

They are in the right job though, to get to grips with things better!

No that's just when its virtually impossible it won't have shown up if you are positive.

They test for the prescence of your body's antibodies to the virus.

Most STD doctors will tell you 13 weeks for a conclusive result. But its prob like 95% confidence rate after 30days

    Don't agree at all.

Seems to me that the American Porn industry have been exemplary in keeping the industry clean.

Every single and actor and actress must be tested regularly and if they don't have their papers, they can't work.

Marc Wallice was the last scare that I can recall.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Wallice

    The industry almost shutdown overnight.

If someone gets HIV from sleeping around in the nightclubs in Dublin, or London, don't think they will shut down or that anybody is going to ask them have they got papers on them to prove that they are free from disease before having sex with them.

I wonder who the actor is that has HIV!

I'm not at all surprised by this. We saw it coming.

I watched this documentary once called Nymphomaniac Nurses 2 and those nurses did not seem to care at all about the patients' health or general well-being.

If this is the type of health staff they employ in the porn industry then they only have themselves to blame.

Could those involved not just fall back on their acting skills?

From the article in the OP. We hear about HIV outbreaks. You do not hear about the prevalence of other infections/diseases.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, workers in the adult film industry are 10 times more likely to be infected with a sexually-transmitted infection than members of the general public

What the papers do nothing against, is being tested on Mondy, being infected on Tuesday... infecting countless others until it's time for your next test.

Exactly. I know my last post was facetious, but you do have a point.

If you're infected with HIV (or suspect you have been infected), it takes up to six months before you can be tested properly.

For example, if you had unsafe sex today, a test could not be conclusively carried out until six months' time.

In six months you can infect a lot of people.

IIRC you must present a clean bill of health that is not older than 30 days to be allowed shoot a scene.

In the intervening 29 days you could have had any number of instances where HIV or anything else could have been contracted. The 30 day cert is basically meaningless for some doing a couple of shoots a week or even a day. The only way for it to be in any way effective would be if the actors/actresses did one shoot per month.

Could the actors with HIV not all get together and make their own porn company?

They already have dating sites for people with STDs....

Yes, but this is regarding HIV and I think the sex industry in the states have been remarkable.

To keep it almost HIV free all these years when you consider the amount of pornography that comes out of San Fernando Valley, is quite amazing.

If that was the case it would be happening all the time.

As you can see, as soon as one person is diagnosed, it is splashed all over the media, usually by right wing media outlets with an agenda.

Anyone who bought porn in the 80's and 90's will remember Sharon Mitchell.

She was one of the pioneers in cleaning up the industry after the Marc Wallice incident and she now runs the main testing clinic for porn stars.
