As the title says, I'm looking for info on Martin Bannon. I received an email outlining his grades, qualifications etc., but I was wondering if anybody here had first hand experience of him.

He claims semi- and light-contact World Titles in kickboxing (I'm not refuting these claims, by the way) but also claims to teach "Realistic Self Defence", so any info on the above would be appreciated

Not sure about this kind of thread on the forum to be honest. A quick search on here reveals that he comes recommended. I'm gonna temp lock this and check with the other mods. I'll be back....

Ok gonna let this run, but I want any replies to keep it to the facts please. No unfounded allegations. Thanks.

I've met and trained with Martin on a few occasions, he's a sound lad from what I saw and between himself and Dave Heffernan they run a good kickboxing club in Tallaght.
I never knew he won light or semi world titles but that's not to say he didn't back in the day.
What association were the championships governed under?

Similar to what yomchi said and I'm not part of TMA or ever trained with Martin.

Martin is still competing and senior and masters level and has numerous titles. What’s more to the point his clubs juniors are very good and a few recently won 1st place at the WAKO world championships.

Robbie McMenamy who trained under Martin & Dave recently won 1st at the world combat games. One other club member also qualified for the games and only top 4 in the WAKO world rankings qualified.

He's well respected by AKAI coaches and refs .

I can vouch for the semi- and light-contact but not the "Realistic Self Defence" as I've never see his SD technique.
