Can anyone tell me if there is an Irish Mazda Mx-5 owners club?

I just want to start researching my next 'classic' purchase early this time so that I can find the right car.

I really want an MX-5. Sadly at the moment I can barely afford a sore throat.

I've always wanted one. I remember sitting in a red one in 1992 when Ryan and Burns opened in Nenagh and even then I said I was having one.

I have a Passat on the way on Saturday so I'm thinking ahead :D

Thanks Confab, not sure why but I kept finding UK owners clubs on Google

I'd actually like an automatic MX-5 but have heard that the gear change is so good on the manual it's pointless.

It's good when it's warm - when it's cold it's sticky enough. Legend has it that Mazda did that on purpose............for 'character'.....given typical japanese gearbox change standard's, there could well be truth in it.

Have never driven the auto, but there's a good few about - the club won't be long putting you right.

You kept that one well hidden John....!

The MX-5 Club is very active in this country in fairness. I was talking with the main lad fairly recently and he said that he had an action packed year ahead next year with a track day and quite a few drives planned !

Nice crowd MX-5 Ireland - I wish I had one now.....!

Regarding the gearchange, there's a little nylon cup at the base of the gearstick, apparently this can get worn over time, so the change action isn't as smooth, it's not a big job to replace though. There's no way I'd even consider a slushbox, unless it was for parts…

Anyone got a cheap hardtop they'd like to part with?

Sorry, I was thinking they'd be available in the €250-300 range?

....'fraid not. Going rate is 550 or thereabouts. (I have one). Remember: they're 1500, new.
