Hey Guys, only joined today and I don't want to impose, but I'm wondering if there would be any interest in a 'You Score It' series of fights? Round by round scoring would be preferable, but if you don't have time or whatever then it's no biggie.

Just to start, I'll put 'Williams-Martinez 1' out there for scoring. Williams won via majority decision, but it was not without controversy. It was a fight of the year contender, and the much awaited rematch will be happening next month. You can watch the full fight here - http://www.megavideo.com/?d=ENCSOZDP

I look forward to hearing from you:)

    Welcome to boards pbffan.

I think this is a great idea. Instead of people complaining about decisions, let's discuss each fight round for round.

I think people should just post their round scoring and if there are any iffy rounds, people can debate the various merits.

    Excellent fight to start with.

I Scored it exactly the same as you. Round for round. Williams had more in the tank in the last 2 rounds but thats not cause enough for me to give him the edge. Taking each round on it's merits it shoulda been a draw in my book.

How one judge saw it as 119-110 for Williams is ludicrous.

I have to say I found it a very difficult fight to score. I don't have a problem with someone scoring it for either boxer as long as it's close.

    My scoring is as follows-

R1: Even (I thought Williams was getting the better of the round besides his KD of Martinez, but Sergio's strong KD at the end levelled it up)
    R2: Martinez
    R3: Martinez
    R4: Even
    R5: Williams
    R6: Williams
    R7: Williams
    R8: Williams
    R9: Martinez
    R10:Martinez
    R11:Martinez
    R12:Even

    Martinez 116 - 115 Williams (or 115-114 if the first is 9-9)

I've a funny feeling if I scored it again I could come up with a different scorecard.

I saw some unofficial weights for both fighters a few days ago, and the results were suprising to say the least

The catchweight is 157lbs - Martinez weighed 176, and Williams weighed 162:eek:

Martinez seems to be doing a Ricky Hatton on it here, while on the other end of the scale, Williams would appear to be overtraining. Dodgy strategy by both of them, Williams is in real danger of peaking too soon, and Martinez, well he'd just want to get his ass into the gym asap. He says weight won't be an issue though, and that he's done it like this all his career, but still...
