Things to do in Limerick city for the day

I will be going to the International rules game on Saturday week and will be trvelling down on the train failry early. I was wondering apart from going to the pub are there any sights or things of interest in the city to see or do before the match? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also are there any good pubs in the city center worth going to for a good aul feed:D

not my thing but the hunt museum, you could go minigolf for the day if theres a few of ya,

On a Saturday morning stroll down to the markets, when you come out of the train station, cross the road, turn right, 4 minute walk you hit the milk market, enjoy the atmosphere. From there take a stroll up towards king johns castle, walk around the back of it and the side crossing over Thomond bridge, At the opposite side of the castle ie. over the river (where the treaty stone is located) stroll along the wooden walkway towards Sarsfield bridge and then hit the city centre for lunch. Thomond Park (unless you've already been there) is quite close to the grounds. Make sure you book in advance. Well that's my plan for the day anyway. From Rugby to GAA!

PS have yet to tell the staunch GAA man that he's going to a rugby ground first - wish me luck :-)

Might make it worth going to if there was.

go for lunch in the Wild Onion if you can find it, food is great but the staff are a bit...over familiar, some people love it, kinda puts me off, but the food makes up for it.
