    Wimax airside retail park 2010
wimax (imagine) mast is supposed to go live at the tulip inn/premier inn Airside Retail Park Swords end of october
imagine say the contention will be 4.1 is this true?????
has anybody got some more info on this,
i've signed up but am worried cause of all the scare stories with distance.
i live about 1.5 miles "line of site" from that location, they said they will install an outside aerial on the house as its better than the stand alone box so they claim.
anybody got experience in the distance from masts and service provided
please no rants on bad service, just solid info on distance and technology
the product ive gone for is 7mb
    thanks guys for any info

im thinking of changing cause my dsl is a pathetic 1.68mb..
    worth the risk????

    no.
There is apparently no Fixed WiMax from Imagine. Their Nomadic /Mobile 3.6GHz WiMax sometimes has outdoor aerials. Just like you can do on 3G. They are only offering the outdoor aerial as you otherwise would have no connection, It doesn't make it Fixed WiMax.

See why 1Mbps DSL is better than 3G or Imagine Wimax: http://www.techtir.ie/comms/mobile-vs-fixed
    (Real Fixed Wimax is good)

See why a system with a mix of Mobile/Nomadic and Fixed aerials is typically x8 poorer performance than Wireless that only uses Outdoor directional high gain aerials http://www.techtir.ie/comms/fixed-wireless-broadband-better

    See Charter here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055442502

There is no assurance with Imagine WiMax that 5Mbps this week on the 7Mbps package won't be worse than 1Mbps next week with high latency.

No way should you cancel perfectly good broadband for a nomadic system where congestion cannot be controlled. This issue means you can get any speed at all, even down to no signal.

If you cannot get broadband at all it might be ok as a last resort, if you are lucky.
