Laptop Advice - Never quite fitting into the categories

    Hi guys,

First time on the forum, tried to search for advice on this topic, but since I consider myself to be unique I might as well start a new page!

Im looking at getting a new laptop, the problem being that noone out there seems to be in consensus about the best laptops in any given range. Also, I never seem to fit into the gamer/student/home user/multimedia boxes. Can anyone help me?

    Im looking for:

Budget of less than 1k (hopefully a lot less)

Strong spec laptop with graphics card of at least 1gb
    Decent speakers, possibly bluray drive
    Good reviews for the laptop
Decent battery life (doesnt have to be amazing)
At least 4gb Ram, 500gb memory

I've come across lots of laptops that fit the bill but need a strong recommendation to seal the deal.

GPU wise what games are you looking to play etc?
    Screen size wanted?
Do you want it portable for college etc?
What do you plan to do with the laptop etc?

I dont need it to be netbook portable. Standard laptop size is fine.

    15"+ screen!

Games wise, I'd like it to be able to handle new strategy games in the vein of old Age of Empires - not worried about handling the latest CoD or anything.

I do a lot of multimedia on my laptop - movies/music/photos - but i dont do film editing.

Bottom line, something that can handle multiple programs at once without problems.

I was looking at the lenovo Z series, seemed to be good, had a dell before and was really quite unhappy with it so I would rather avoid them again.

    Thanks for your reply!
