UPC - Black box v's Gray Box

    Hi,

    I have just had a faulty digital+ box replaced. The one I had was black and not too big. It has been replaced with a gray box which looks like the type of box I had when I was with NTL two years ago.

    Does anyone know if there is a difference between the black and gray UPC boxes?

    Apart from it being gray? :)

    As the set top boxes are essentially rented, you don't have a choice on which box you get.

    Some people say that the gray one is faster but they both have the same software and same problems ie. Deleting tv planner etc.

    I got mine replaced with another black dvr but was told that its a software issue so changing the box won't make any difference. He was right.

    Two main differences:
    Grey box records 50hrs, Black Box is 80-100
    Grey box is really noisey

    Spoke to UPC yesterday - due to hear back from them today
