2 Insurance Polices on 1 Car?

    Hi Guys,

Myself and the gf are buying a car - she has her full licence and I don't, so it'll all be going under her name.

The cheapest cover she can get is with a "Women Only" insurance company. (It's quite a whack cheaper).

I'm planning on getting my licence soon-ish, but I'm in no hurry as I work from home.

My question is - what can I do for insurance on the car? Obviously I can't be covered under the same policy as it's women only.

Can I add another insurance policy from another company onto it, under my name?

    Cheers...

I had a similar problem a few years back and was told its illegal to have 2 policies on one car, so unless things have changed your answer is no

Even if this were possible, it would almost certainly be more expensive than her naming you on her policy.

Yea but I can't be named on her policy, even if it were cheaper. As they only cover wimmin'.

She'll need to change provider so won't she.

Only answer is for her to get cover that will allow you to be named and then try and get it as cheap as possible.
