i bought 1 of these from mymemory a couple of months ago, but from day 1 i had some playback issues with it....I use it to watch films but it wont play some .avi files and will others.

The files it wont play - it plays maybe the first 5 seconds and then skips to the next film on the memory card or back to the main menu if there is only one 1 film on the memory card...

Anyone any ideas on what is the problem is or has anyone encountered this and found a solution?

    Corrupt .avi files?

Can you play them ok on a PC?

I'd use DivXRepair, worked in the past for me.

I know that some .avi's would have a sh*t fit when I put them on my creative zen. It would play some but with others it just gave up and froze after a few seconds.

    Could be the encoding?

Would it help to try and "redo" the files with VirtualDub?

Open the files and then save as?

    Also Oxelon is handy.

You'll also need a bitrate calculator.

Is your product the enlosure? An enclosure is a big device that you put a HDD into. I assumed you had the Micro Media Player. And its MK1 unless it has a '2' on the device.

You want to be careful with firmware updates - find a Sumvision support forum if needs be. Make sure you have the right firmware and know the update process. I presume there is a menu somewhere in your player that will tell you the current version you are running.

    Just reviving this thread.

I have the cyclone micro and am having the same problem as Noel.

Some avi files play the first few seconds then skip to the next file or to a random spot on the file its playing.

On the firmware site it doesnt seem to have new firmware for the Cyclone Micro mk1.

    Any ideas?
