    Hi all,

I was thinking of getting into golf, I love the game but I really never had the time to dedicate myself to it. Now seems like a pretty good time for me to start.
Before I walk onto a golf course I guess I should take a few lessons and then maybe head to a driving range?
Another thing, my wife is also thinking about taking up golf so I was wondering if anybody in here goes out golfing as a couple or is it strictly with the buddies all the time?

As I said in the thread title, I'm left handed....I came across this package set http://www.mcguirksgolf.com/ram-fx100-mens-package-set--lh-/ramc0101lhpd.html . Do you think these clubs are good for that price?

    Thanks.

as a fellow leftie i have to say good luck & play as a couple no problem, you'll often find that you'll meet up with others on the first tee anyway.

as regards the clubs there's nothing wrong with RAM as a starter set, but do look on the thread here 'golf stuff for sale, loan etc - i bought a ping driver & 3 wood from another left handed player on here - user name 'pinkdoubleeagle' cost of both was 100 euro, McGuirks would have charged twice that for just one. so shop around, there's great valuw in 2nd hand clubs, and a lot are quality stuff.

as for lessons yeah the earlier you start the fewer bad habits you will develope but don't be afraid to trust your instinct either and remember, most of golf is all about being able to chip and putt well around the greens, if you can do that well, your handicap will tumble down.

Thanks very much, so you think it may be better to go for second hand and better quality? I'll shop around and have a look at that thread, thanks again.
