    Hi all,

Im coming from from abroad for Xmas and once again its NYE that I am dreading. Last year we all stayed in that night and we swore we would go away or do something other than just head to the local boozer.

Since im only home for 2 or so weeks I cant afford/dont want to go off travelling for NYE so would prefer to stay in ireland. But now I also figure that I would like to spend it with my Mum as Im only home for such a short time.

Can anyone recommend anyhting that we could do/where we could go and stay for NYE. I was thinking a spa break but I cant seem to find any package deals or anything for NYE. I definitely dont want to go to any hotel with loads of singles (my plus one will be back here) or places packed with groups of drinkers. In the Munster area if possible!

Anyone recommend any nice country hotels that might be doing soemthing? Roaring fires and the like??!! :pac:

What about Cape Clear Island? Me and the hubby spent a christmas there around 8 years ago and it was just lovely! We had xmas dinner in one of the 2 (sometimes there's 3 I think!) pubs, amongst other locals and visitors. I would usually baulk at something like that but it was just so lovely. (& definately roaring fires!)

The name of the gorgeous cottage we stayed in was Tigh Noini or Nonai, as far as I can remember.

I guess it depends on your budget as to what you want to spend in Ireland.

have you looked at any hotels around the Kerry area, off the top of my head, the Park Hotel in Kenmare (probably expensive) or Aghadoe Heights in Killarney? might be worth checking out.

We got a great deal for the absolutehotel in limerick on new years eve a couple of years ago. It has a spa but not sure what its like as we did not use.

I got an invitation to a NYE dinner and dancing package for the Aghadoe Heights in Killarney. It only came to me on Tuesday by email. It looked very reasonable for a 5* hotel. I have stayed there before and the spa was absolutely amazing. We were only a few minutes from killarney town but it has the best views in kerry.
