    Hey all,
Have been dabbling at boxing on/off for a couple of years but never gave it a proper go. Hoping to give the amateur scene a rumble pretty soon tho!! ha :P

Just wonderin for anyone more experienced than myself (wouldnt be hard) to share what sort of standard of fitness would be needed to go just say four 2 minute rounds at high intensity with comfort!

Like what sort of regime do you have to get to that standard etc.

    Cheers in advance! :)

You need to be in a boxing club to box so the fitness training they do should suffice, and you need to be quite fit to box so do as much as ya can..

Aye joined one up alright, fitness isnt the best at the moment so want to build it up quick enough to hopefully get fully into swing of things.
Would a 4 or 5k run twice a week on top of the trainin (2 one hour sessions weekly) do the job?

Good road work, good intense bag work, good intense pad work and decent sparring are all essential for improving boxing fitness. But, the thing is, no mater how much you prepare, you cannot know what it will be like in a real fight, with pressure, nerves and tension. This alone can burn up a hell
of a lot of that energy and stamina. Sparing is tough, but a lot more relaxed. A fight is so much more intense, particularly mentally.

Good point bout the pressure and intensity of a real bout. Thats what Im concerned with really ha. Have been to clubs before and done the training and sparring but was very casual on/off approach and never had the oppurtunity to give it a good run and get some fights till now.
