Best Ball For Winter Golf

With the prospect of colder weather approaching I'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions on a good ball to use in the winter. I normally use either Pro V1's or Callaway HX Tour, but I heard that a lower compression ball is better in cold weather.

I'd still like something with a bit of feel and I've tried the Callaway HX Bite which I didn't really like.

    Any suggestions.

A liitle off topic, but what is an acceptable handicap before one can pose such a question without being laughed at?

    Another slightly off topic...

Does the colour of ball make a difference to seeing it in the winter haze? Both Saturday and today I've just lost sight of golf balls as they hit a certain height.
Are yellow or orange easier to see?

Interestingly enough its the same answer for all 3 posts.
    "A cheap one"
I use NXT or AD333 during the winter and prov1 or Bridgestone during summer.
This time of year you can lose a ball in rough, leaves, plugs etc and the greens are going to be soft anyway so...

I'm playing off 10, but I think most high handicappers tend to use cheaper balls anyway. Unless your swing is 90mph or above you may not benefit from using Pro V1's etc.

I think if your playing when it's a bit frosty a coloured ball might be useful, not sure if they're more visible in the air.

Yeh I was thinking of the NXT alright, found an NXT Extreme last week and used it for a while, til I lost it in a lake, don't know what the difference is between that and an ordinary NXT.

The prov1s i've already played a round with during the summer months will be getting used again in the non qualifiers.

You should be above about 5 to avoid being laughed at. If your handicap is above that, then fellow golfers will recognise you for the dreamer you are, and thinking that a winter ball might make any difference whatsoever to your score would not be seen as deluded beyond the norm for your handicap range.

Below 5 and you would deserve all the laughs you would get - at that level you are expected to know the facts of golf and have progressed beyond such irrational self deception.
