with regards cheaper buses, as far as I know bus eireann only actually accept the student travel cards, not your college I.D. If you buy a student ticket and they require the travel card (if you don't have it) you will be fined. It's been a while since I've bought a student ticket, but it'll say it on the machines and ask staff.

The Cinema give a discount during the week if you have A.I.T. or other student I.D.

Nope bus eireann accept student cards, its the train will only accept travelcards.
You can buy student tickets in the bus station from the machines but I dont think you can buy student tickets from the machine in the train station machines, you would have to go to the tickets desk.

Don't be afraid to ask!!! I was in Singer's today and they gave me a bit of a discount, mainly because I could well put some business their way with the SCA and all :P

The Sound Factory(instrument shop) do a 10% student discount but you do have to let them know you are a student. Make sure you get Benny(owner/ginger guy) because sometimes Eddie(younger skinny guy) doesn't give the discount. Also strike up a good relationship with them both, and other shop people, and they'll be more willing to take a few quid/cents off for ya.

Topshop, Art'n'Hobby and a few other places give discounts, just check in the window. Heatons do the same 10% but sadly there isn't one in Athlone :( Keep your card about ya and see where you can find it.

And again, don't be afraid to ask!!!
