Mod can re-name this or whatever, but basically I figure we need a thread to rant, rave and chat about tournaments with the pros and have chats.

GSL Season 3 qualifiers are going on at the moment, I follow them on Twitter so get updates in work as well as their website.

here is the list of qualifiers from today.

Winners of the preliminary day 3

As far as I know these qualifiers will leave us with 64 players. There is some big names in there already with some more to come later this week.

This season looks like it will be more fierce then last ;)

    http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens1/news/

If you look at that link and check the top three topics, its the qualifiers for the first 3 days, might actually be everyone I'm not sure, but the list is there in three parts.

It seems a fair few WC3 players have attempted to qualify this season, most notibly Moon, the famous Wc3 player. Unfortunately failed to qualify but be interesting to see if all the BW and WC3 players converge over eventuallly, considering Wc3 is well dead.

I just hope their is healthy European competitions. Wc3 died an epic death in Eruope, hopefully SC2 can last better

any chance you can post the names?
i cant get onto gomtv from work.

    thanks man.

Alot of names tbh, there is no copy and paste list :(

A few good players have missed out big time.

If you can access Twitter I follow these people who usually have good updates etc

    djwheat
    day9
    TheGunrun
    gomtv

Gomtv is obviously the best, it gives match by match updates. I have "twirssi" running through irssi so I can check match updates through my little command prompt window, that makes people think I'm genuinely working :P

Think there should be one more day of qualifying to make up the 64 that'll start on the 18th, so some others might sneak in.

    GSL qualifiers on again today

    http://twitter.com/#!/gomtvnet

You can follow the qualifying here through Twitter which is the easiest way.

Or you can watch the games online at gomtv.net , youve to download a little external player but well worth it, although I believe they might be charging for all streams this season

    Can't wait for this tourney

I expect to see a large amount of upsets, definitely gonna be worth the 20 dollars - hope GOM get stinking rich of this and keep these tourneys coming, hopefully sucking more SC1 players over and boosting the tourney scene

The most amazing thing is that the top EURO/US players are not too far behind the Koreans. Expect to see a whole new barrage of strats etc.

    Nada through.. holy shiii

Are GOM charging 20 blips per tournament cast? I cant see anything on their site in work, last season you could watch a standard stream for free just wanted to check and see what the story was.

The Euros were never too far behind the koreans in anything (wc3 is a good example), the difference is that sc:bw became such a massive deal in korea that the players there were able to be real professionals. No matter how good a european is, they aint going to have a chance against someone that practices 12 hours a day. every day. every month.

Having said that, I dont see a foreigner winning this this season. The good practice the koreans have when it comes to this franchise is too ingrained.

All this is pretty obvious, but I actually have some faith in TLO and Idra.. its not that they lack the skill to do it, its just the numbers are stacked against them, literally, its like 3 foreigners in the final 64? tough

I've followed the bw korean scene for a few years and thats a whole different ballgame.. I will be very interested to see how some of the big names handle the transition.

dunno if any of ya noticed in the last tournament,
but tasteless and artosis said that there was a few koreans who came together to help another korean put idra out..
    not sayin its deffinately true.
but if it is then they deffinately are at a disadvantage, because theyre going up against a lot of players instead of just their matched up opponents,
if ya get what i mean.
