You can ring the various golf clubs or ask in this shop.

I got a couple of lessons last year in the Galway driving range from Courtney Krugre and found him good. Maybe a bit on the technical side for some but that's what I wanted. Not sure if the driving range is still open but he's an independent guy and think he used to do the lessons out of the driving range in Glenlo Abbey also. All you need for a first lesson is a 7 iron or similar iron so he should be able to provide that.

I'd definitely advise getting lessons from the beginning to start you on the right track but since you've never played before I don't know how relevant a lesson would be in helping you choose the most suitable gear since you wouldn't have a developed swing speed etc. As such I'd advise getting a cheap starter set or second hand set to start you off, Declan Cunningham in GolfStyle would certainly be able to help you out on that front, great store with competitive prices. I wouldn't bother with any sort of woods or anything until you're well able to hit your irons and have a few lessons under your belt.

I also used Courtney recently -- Complete beginner like yourself - found him very good
