Shipping Address vs. Billing Address - is this possible?

I'm trying to place an order on www.wiggle.co.uk, but sending it to a different address (college) than my billing address (normal home).

However, the transaction wouldn't go through with either Paypal, or by just manually entering the card details (although with the latter it went through until an e-mail two days later said it wasn't processed).

Is this possible? Is it just a restriction with this website, or for fraud reason is it general policy not to send things to a shipping address that isn't the same as the billing address? Obviously I could send it to my home address but that would mean not getting it for quite a while, whereas I would have it in a few days if they send it to my current address.

The card is an Ulster Bank Visa Debit, if it makes any difference. I had no trouble getting ticketmaster to send tickets to my current address (with AIB Laser), despite the fact that the 'billing address' is different.

If you were paying by paypal as you said, you should have the option to add a "shipping" address.

If paying directly by card, some sites dont allow you to ship to an address thats not the billing address.

I have registered my workplace address with my bank for CC purposes. I also have it on paypal. There has only been one instance where I had trouble -coincidentally it was another bike shop in the UK. I had even bought 1 or 2 bikes off them before but they then insisted on sending to my home address on my next order, I told them I couldn't do that and would go elsewhere and they still insisted on it.

The bike was for a mate who ended up having to get it paid and delivered to his own house, which was a lot of hassle for both of us (I had to build it). They almost lost another 2 sales due to this with another mate of mine.

Thanks for the replies! I'll look into it later today!

Just to note, the addresses being different wasn't directly given as the reason for the transactions not going through. It just said that the payment provider/bank stopped the transaction, and this may be due to: and it listed a few reasons, such as insufficient funds or the bank cancelling the card, and then about an address that doesn't match the address of the card.

I'm assuming that this is the problem as the card details are correct and the card is valid. I am €3 clear of the amount I'm trying to order for so unless they are taking a huge pre-authorisation / ghost charge, then I have sufficient funds.

    I'll keep you posted!

we ahd a similar problem recently buying from a USA website ,where the shipping address was different and this was the solution .

On the US website , we had to change the the shipping address and then at checkout , we had to choose Paypal .

However , when it took us to the paypal sign-in page , we did not sign in , but instead chose the option to pay by credit card ( found on the left-hand side ).

This link took us through the procedure , and finally accepted payment .
