Compatibility Surprises?

Got a great surprise this weekend when I was playing with some of my gear and discovered my 450D can fire an old Olympus T32 flash I got with my OM-2n in it's 'Normal Auto' mode.

Different brands and almost 20 years between the components but they work together! The flashgun has obviously been surpassed by more recent releases but it's still a powerful flash that lets me bounce off the ceiling from almost 32 feet away!

Anyone else find any similar surprises in compatibility between cameras and flash units / other accessories?

Just be careful that your flash doesn't burn out your hot shoe connection on the camera, or the camera burn out your flash.

Any idea how to avoid that beyond simply not using them together?

Is there any way I can find out if that's a danger?

Looks ok but check the relevant section on this website for more info.

Rated as "Your Call" but on the lower end of the "dubious safety" voltage... reckon I'll work away with it tbh.
