KMS is a pain and is not for single server use. AFAIKR it is for 5+ server setups. The other servers on the network activate against your KMS.

The VLK is no more and is now called a MAK(!) You need to contact M$ and ask them to exchange your KMS key for a MAK key.

Microsoft seem to not realise that most Irish companies have no need for 5+ servers!!!

Actually you should get both keys when you buy the software \ register is on EOpen.

KMS is fine for a Medium to large company but we still use MAK keys for simplicity and we have up-wards of 60+ servers.

It's not too bad to setup sure. We have it setup on a few different networks and it works fine - little to no hassle.

Sorry - I should have been clearer:

The actual technical steps are not onerous. What I found to be a PITA was technical support at Microsoft. Passed through 5 (five!) people before I got someone who was able to tell me what is going on.

Yeah we have both MAK and KMS keys. The MAK only gives us 1000 activations and we reimage our machines regularly we are nearly at the 1000. I guess we can contact Microsoft and get the MAK increased.
