Cancelling O2 broadband

This has probably been done before but I couldn't see anything in the recent few pages and I did some googling but got nothing definitive. Friend of mine has 02 broadband and wants to switch to Three but he still has a good 6 months or so left on his contract, is he able to cancel and what fees would he have to pay? Or…
