I remember reading some time ago a profile of business leaders and entrepreneurs usually included some sort of near-death experience. Seemingly the fact that you nearly died but didn't, makes you feel invincible and encourages risk-taking.

Personally, my mum told me I nearly drowned when I was a kid - on two different occasions!
