    Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any courses that specialise in the repair of starters and altenators? I see that FAS offers an apprenticeship as an auto-electrican and that takes 4 years but I'm 29 so I was hoping for a shorter course and I'm really only intersested in the altenator and starter side of things. I'm based in Galway and I was hoping in time to getting in to the repair of these. I think this is the best route to take but anybody with any advice on how to start up this little business would really be appreciated. Thanks very much for any advice.

    Kind Regards,
    Galman.

It doesnt take much training to repair an alternator or starter motor in fairness you could train a ten year old to do it.

The reason its a specialised job is the testing equipment and the price to kit out a workshop.

This is only a very small part of any apprenticeship there is a lot more to the job than just fixing a part what if its not getting power to it do you tell the customer sorry I can only repair you starter or alternator ??
