    Hi folks.
I'm gonna be cheeky and sneak in three questions here.
    1. I am etremely interested in starting target shooting. I do a lot of plinking myself but as far as I know the nearest rifle range is Midlands and thats an hour and a half drive away. Does anyone know where 'shannonside target shooting club' are located or is there a closer range to south tipp.

    2. I have a CZ452 .22lr. Is this gun good enough in target shooting terms. I can put a bullet through one hole at 50yards easy (although thats with a scope). Grouping at 75 yards is under an inch. (again with a scope).... saying that, I'm not too bothered about competing, more interested in learning and having somewhere to shoot.

    3. I have had my .22 for a year or so now and love shooting with it. However I would love to expand my shooting range so am going to apply for a .223 Do you reckon I would get a license for that?

    Try the Silhouette Association. http://sites.google.com/site/irishsilhouetteshooter/

It has competitors from "Suirside Target Sports". Whoever they are they sound like they'd be closer to you.

... I can put a bullet through one hole at 50yards easy (although thats with a scope).

I can put a bullet through one hole at 1000yds with BOTH eyes closed.

With practise you too could reach that standard ;)

    Please, don't practice 1000yd shooting blindfolded... :D

There is also the "International Sporter" Class of Rimfire Benchrest Rifle Shooting.

    For more info contact NASRPC.

    Hiya SS,

Was laughing when I read your I can put a bullet through one hole at 50yards easy (although thats with a scope). The question is - how many more can you put in through that same first hole? :D

To answer your question, I haven't heard of "Shannonside Target Shooting Club" and you couldn't get more Shannon-side than me! If you do find out - please let me know.

If you are interested tho - get in touch with Fermoy Rifle Club - granted - they'd like you to keep yer eyes open too!

hi LB6, sorry bout my post it should have read 5 bullets one hole ha ha. I have considered fermoy club and will definitely call down if I cant find anywhere closer. Will check out midlands too and whichever is handiest I'll ask about joining.
I've been shooting away for over a year now and only seem to be getting more and more hooked so I really want a place to go where I can learn some stuff.

it should have read 5 bullets one hole

    That's some shooting! Particularly from a CZ452.
Love to see a pic of your groups.

What ammo are you getting those groups with? Haven't managed a one-hole 5-shot group myself with my CZ yet, worse luck. A couple of raggeddy ones but no one-hole stuff.

That's some good shooting and wind reading TBH - Any club should be delighted to have you!

Haven't heard of 'shannonside target shooting club' myself. In addition to Fermoy, there's also Ballyhoura Rifle & Pistol Range in Limerick which may be near you (depending on where in Tipp you're located) www.brpr.ie

I got that grouping with lapua subsonic rounds. I was just plinking. I dont know how good it was really cause I was prone and had a tasco MAG IV 50 scope on. :) (either that or I hit the target once and missed four times :-P )
I was really impressed with the accuracy of my CZ though. Next time out I'll post a pic no bother. Will have a go at the weekend.

Ballyhoura looks deadly. I'll be ringing them. Thanks for that dCorbus
