Nervous stomach

    Hello all, does anyone here suffer from severe anxiety/nervousness that affects their stomach? Even doing the smallest thing like going out for dinner or even going on a journey,causes my stomach to churn to the point where I may vomit.I've had this all my life and I want to get help with it.I've had this for as long as I can remember.Could it be generalized anxiety disorder? Has anyone any tips on how to deal with it?

    If you have any condition that is affecting your quality of life then your first port of call should be your GP, we are neither qualified nor able to offer a diagnosis or any more than general advice.

    After a trip to the doc's, perhaps look at counselling? Or meditation? The best thing I found for getting over fear of being in public was regularly forcing myself out of my comfort zone until it became second nature.

    hey I had this quite badly to the point that I threw up often. It started aged 15-16 and eventually calmed down in my early 20's.

    I tried all the heavy antacids, got a scope done etc etc. I was offered counselling but being a 16 yr old I was terrified this meant I was saying I was crazy -I wish I'd taken teh offer up. You don't have to have a 'major' problem to benefit I believe.

    What helped in practical terms was drinking a pint of milk, or another milky thing like eating ice cream etc. Cut down on high sugar/fat foods such as sweets, chocolate, greasy fried food, avoid high acidic foods like oranges, lemons, tomatoes, and any food highly based on this (tomatoe sauces). Try avoid cream. Drink lots and lots of water, eat small regular meals like every 3hrs, try never to be very hungry. Avoid high percentage alcohol like spirits, avoid wine, try stick to beer if u have to but often alcohol makes it million times worse when ur hungover.

    In terms of personal development - u need to start getting comfortable with yourself, and with being nervous - yes its strange, don't try and avoid or deny it, but accept u are scared sometimes and work with it. the adrenaline is often the problem. Try push urself into situations ur uncomfortable with or nervous, force urself to deal with it and you'll see that the more you can conquer the stronger you become and the less the stomach thing is an issue. It worked for me - I don't have stomach problems now except before interviews etc.....because whilst things scared me in the past and affected my stomach, now I've done them and am comfortable, it takes a big thing to affect me.

    It's a horrible problem to have, and I remember how awful I felt most of the time and how no matter how often I tried to talk myself out of feeling ill, it didn't work. It will get better. In the meantime SEE A DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!! Please this is most important, - for me it was nerves, but it's worth checking everything out and trying medicine first. good luck!

    Yes, I do, and looking at me you wouldn't think it. I have found that channelling my nerves has help me a lot. Google some stress management techniques
