Well the number killed at Auschwitz has been revised down a couple of times, iirc, yet the official number of 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis still stands.

It hardly makes sense.

And historians trying to investigate it, or denying the extent of it, have been slung in jail.

I don't know all the ins and outs of it, or of them, but that's hardly right either.

It seems to be the general consensus that not as many millions got wiped out as was first suggested by the Russians. They were the ones who came up with the 6 million Holocaust figure, but the rest of the WW2 allies mentioned calculations of 2 or 3 million. The 6 million figure stuck though, for some reason.

Anyone even mentioning this is seen as anti-semitic, as are the true anti-semitic fantasists denying that any of it took place.

I have a problem with censorship and refusal to question history. I also have a problem with ordinary citizens of the world being labeled anti semetic if they question anything in relation to the holocaust or the state of israel.

I was disturbed to find out that 5 million non jews may have been killed also during the holocaust but its reported as a jewish tragedy only.

I think thats maybe the fault of the West or Europeans, or maybe its because the gays, roma, handicapped etc are not represented as a 'nation' in the same way as the Jew's are.

I've been to holocaust museum's in Israel and all the victims are remembered, regardless of race, religion or nationality.

In regards to the numbers murdered, I've no idea what the real figure is and to be honest I don't really care, if it was a quarter of a million or ten times that its the fact that it was a planned extermination on an industrial scale in Europe that bothers me.

The fact that someone, or a nation of people would set out to efficiently murder so many is worth remembering.
