    Any feedback would be great!

Think it depends on how organised you want to be really. im getting married in July 2012 and have the church, hotel and band booked but nothing else sorted.

If you have a certain date in mind then its good to book early. I would recommend that you attend some wedding fairs and avail of any offers the suppliers have (eg the wedding band we booked offered a free DJ if a booking was made by the end of sept so we made a saving of E200)

    Good Luck!!

If you're totally settled on your date, you'd be as well start looking at venues, get that booked and your church if applicable. We were trying to book a date for ours a year and a half in advance of the wedding and couldn't get the weekend we originally wanted (a Bank Holiday) or a lot of weekends around then so it's not uncommon to book 2 years in advance.

If you've the church, hotel and band booked well in advance, you can forget about it all until the end of 2012/start of 2013 and then get everything else in place.

I'd agree with previous posters. I think if you have a date in mind, start looking at hotels and get a booking with church. We booked ours a year and half in advance, which I thought was early at the time but it's completely stress free I have to say. All the other bits and bobs fall into place when you've the date confirmed. I guess if you're booking 3 years in advance, make sure you get a signed contract with t's and c's from hotel and check them out to make sure they're not about to go bankrupt!
    Enjoy the planning :)

If you are booking a band, I would start looking now so you can go and hear them without being under time pressure.

agreed, I play in a band and used to say 18 months to people but a long time ago this went to "as soon as possible" as I disappointed a friend once who lost a date with us because I said "18 months is fine" to him.

I have a couple of dates gone in 2013 already.
