Two VATs for one person?

    Just wonder if one person can have two different VAT numbers?

    Hello There,


    The answer is NO - one cannot have 2 VAT numbers.

    However one can have a few different businesses which are all then added up a filed on the 1 VAT return using the 1 registration number.

    Hi,
    As other posters have said, no is the answer. A sole traders VAT number matches their PPS number. Only other option would be multiple limited companies, but depending on your circumstances that'd probably be over kill, high on expense and admin.

    If you are a sole trader: Setup two or more "Business Names" (www.cro.ie) and maintain separate bank accounts per business name, use the same VAT number for each. VAT man won't care as long as you pay the VAT that's due.
