Thought this might be of interest. I think it serves to show that, like Watergate, the people behind anything resembling a conspiracy are ultimately human. They make mistakes. If something like 9/11 was an inside job it was so well done it defies belief.

This is the sort of thing people should be concerned about and put their energies into exposing and highlighting such activities. Forget about the flights of fancy that are ultimately distractions from the real wrong doings.

Yes very interesting, caught red-handed. It's good thats there's some hi-res photos of the device still online. Just so we'll all know one when we see it. Shows how lax they are that these photos are still available on a free image host on the internet.

Right-click and save locally folks, I'd say these won't be around for long ;) :

ROFL there using there new super high tech camouflage on them, its so big and it looks like a bomb "No one could call that out of place or a non white person car :/."

Does the FBI even think before doing this ? they risked there hole op because they were to cheap to give the guy a free smart phone with a low jack.

not saying that it's not wrong.

    all I can say is
Were there hopeing to be found out ?

Perhaps, and it actually would make as much sense that way. If they suspect some young fellas are likely to get involved in terrorist activities it would be far cheaper and less time consuming to put a scare into them than it would to place them under constant surveillance until they have enough evidence to act on it

I am trying to say par for the course Boo - minority people within a struggle get tapped - it ll be happening in Ireland soon enough (if not already) with the chaps involved with sovereign independent, Ganleys peoples and those Coir folk too - why the indignation when it's going on for the ages...

That's simply a bizarre point. I wasn't aware that time reduced the seriousness of anything. There are many injustices that have been 'going on for the ages' and will continue to do so.

Also I didn't express any real indignation or surprise, I was merely using this as an example of how real issues, such as the erosion of human rights, are often ignored for more fanciful nonsense, and how something like the ever expanding 9/11 CT is so unlikely when something like tracking a student can be rumbled with relative ease.

sorry fair enough - well made - good OP

Yeah, interesting theory, could be they're using it as a kinda warning to him and other students. I was reading the full thread on Reddit, seems like this is old technology for the FBI, so maybe thats why they've left the photos up. They can probably track anyone using mobile phones now anyway, especially across the US.

I'm not going to pretend I understand the thinking behind the use of old equipment, but I was thinking perhaps that since the FBI don't require a warrant to do this maybe that has something to do with it. In order to track a mobile phone they might still require a court ordered warrant due to third party involvement, i.e. the mobile phone provider etc.

It would be interesting to see the specifics.

The FBI have already used a mobile phone as an eavesdropping device, while powered off, and that was 4 years ago. It wouldn't surprise me what they're doing now.

Wire tapping and tracking are two very different things aren't they? Again I don't know but thought they would be especially in legal definitions. Again it could come back to not needing a warrant to place a tracking device, and therefore not needing any valid reason, but perhaps a warrant is necessary for the wire tap of an individuals mobile. Path of least resistance kind of thing.

not if the goverment buys it and put there own chip in then give it out as moding is aloud to a degree as its a gray area.

Iphone is an example, that got a jail break then apple filed lawsuites some said it wasnt aloud other corths said it was aslong as there installing there own software they they bought themselfs.

I'm not sure if this works the hardware way round, but it could be.
