6.01 does not always mean better perfomance , I will post sone links when I get home to some threads on the subject , the results are rather interesting , Pointing to a drop on performance in a lot of cases

Most high quality bb will be fine, the issue comes with keeping mags hop up and barrel clean , with full auto aegs the issue is increased due to volume of fire as you always have transfer from bb to barrel

sniper sections on forums are your best source of info on 6.01 barrels

thanks puding, id love to see that link.

i just wanted to upgrade my aeg, and since its already at max fps, i wanted to increase range and ROF. i already got a 9.6v batt. i was told that my gun was designed for a m120 spring, so the motor is eating up too much of my battery power. therefor if i replace my motor with a G&P 120 motor ill have better battery life AND better rof.

but i like long range too so i want the best range/accuracy i can get. I just assumed that the tighter the barrel, the more accurate it becomes...

is a fast cycle rate and a tightbore barrel a bad mix?

a m120 spring is a little high rating to just be getting 1 joule with it, what is the aeg?, the g&p m120 will increase rof but increasing battery life is not going to happen, infact its more likely to go down

not a bad mix, just more reliable in an aeg to go 6.03

no pudding i meant that when my gun was imported, it had a M120 spring and high torque motor.
when it got to the shop, they put a M100 spring but didnt touch the motor. therefore the strong motor is taking too much electricity, shortening batt life.
when i put in this new motor, it will have faster rof and SHOULD increase battery life as its not a high torque motor. (according to th guy i rang at MIA)

oh and the AEG is a SRC m4. 9.6v 2000 mah battery.
by more reliable going with a 6.03, do you mean lees likely to jam?

sorry i understand what you mean know :)

the motor will only normal draw what it needs, if you try and work it to hard it draws more heavily from the battery if it can ( why the battery ill get hot when strained/over worked )

yes pulling a large spring will cause the battery to discharge fast due to the high work load, lower the spring being pulled and the motor does not have to work as hard so less power needed, know comparing your current motor without knowing its make is a little hard but getting better battery life from a high speed compared to a high torque is a bit optimistic, as the high speed is going to be turning over more so will use more juice ( this is just general as of course there are always 101 variables in things like this ) but in general i would expect battery life to go down or it could stay around the same

no hard figures im afraid i can only talk from my own experience which may be different for others

in terms of barrel i would go with the 6.03, less chance of a jam ( jamming on a high quality barrel when you could fire 4 or 5 bb before realizing there is a problem can ruin an expensive barrel easily ) this is without going into the arguments on performance as tbh the 6.01 v 6.03 maths gives me a head ache at the best of times when i looked into it for my vsr

but the over riding factor in a barrel is quality no necessarily how tight it is, you need a really high quality with consistent diameter along its length

couple of links on 6.01 i have some more saved somewhere just need to dig them up

wow. these are astounding figures and facts! thaks alot puding!! :D

it seems its not the tight barrel that gives accuracy (closer groupings) but the finish inside the barrell.

again thank you very much puding. :D

for AEG use id stay with 6.04 or 6.03
    i used a m16 with a high quality 6.01 and my std G&G 6.04 was more accurat

    heres some good reading

    Is Tighter Better?
    http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/BulletDetail?bulletID=58#

iv found that .03 and .04 are best for close gropeings, smaler then that accuracy gets a bit worse but FPS goes up

iv seen good results from 6.01s in bolt actions tho but never in an AEG
only what i have experanced tho

lucky you I've had nothing but jams in my guns fitted with Tight bore barrels. As for the other 3 types you listed, they would be my top three.

    Prometheus or Madbull

    :)

Barrel wise, PDI 6.05mm barrels are probably the most accurate. The madbulls are 6.01mm IIRC, they just call them .03 for some reason! Still a good barrel though.

Bb wise - excel bb's are probably the best. They're smaller than most brands, which should avoid any jamming problems and quality is one of the best around.

thanks alot everybody, you've all been a great help.
hope to see you soon at a skirmish with my upgraged m4! :D
