03 Megane Window wont go up

Driving home from work today, I rolled down the window while having a smoke.

It wont go up now :( Its stuck about 1/3 rolled down.
Only a faint click coming from the window motor when I press the button.

I checked obvious things - fuses, swapping cables to known working switches. Then I trawled the internet all evening, trying things like
Open car. Start Car. Turn Off. Take window fuse out. Double lock car. Open car. Put fuse in. Start Car. Turn off Car. Double lock Car (wiondow supposed to move at this point).
I eventually got really fed up and and tried taking the inside door panel off with no success, I ended up rounding one of the hex screws and now I cant get it out.

Does anyone know of a garage in North County Dublin that is open tomorrow where I can get it sorted for a reasonable price.
Even just getting the window up, rather than a full repair would be a bonus.

    Thanks

Most likely the regulator, those Meganes go through them like tyres.

i had a similar issue with my car(not a megane) and the issue was the switch on the door itself. I was able to take it apart and clean the contacts and it works fine now.

    +1

If you haven't had one fail yet, you're either very lucky or you haven't had the car too long.

Its not the first time this happened.

The last time (same window) I brought it to the garage and they told me it was due to water in the door had wet the something or other. They dried it out and the window has worked for the last 4 months.

What happened this time was I went out to the car on Sat morning, and tried a few more things before starting the engine, double locking the car - pressing the button up and down - no movement at all.

I started the engine and let it run, having a smoke to calm myself down before I went on a garage search.
I closed the door and was about to reverse out the driveway when I tried the switch once more. Up went the window.

I then went ahead and disconnected all the cables for the drivers window from its switch.

At least the window is up now.

Have to agree, came across a good few Meganes with this problem myself.

I'd agree that it's most li8kely the regulator, but you may not have to buy a new one - just as well, considering the price.

In my experience there is a nylon part that connects the glass carrier to the cable and this often breaks. You can't buy them separately from the regulator either her, or in NI, but there are several guys selling them on eBay for very reasonable money.

Get out the splined drivers, whip off the panel and it might only cost you €10-15.
