Spent €200 on 300 metres of 1/2 inch heavy duty pipe and fittings today. Cut the pipe on the field tap, installed the T, hooked up the tap on the other end to discover the mains hasn't enough pressure to push the water to where I want it

So I reckon maybe just maybe there'll be IBC's at the mart tomorrow, just happen to be bringing a trailer, I'll use the ould fellas pump. Feckin inch fittings on the pump...

Someone just does not want me to have water in that spot for this dry weekend :D

I doubt it's your pump Johngalway, that's not a long distance with 1/2" pipe (now i stand corrected) have you got water coming at all??

Have you many other draws that are being used coming off it? Limit the number of fittings you use aswel as they'I cause more friction than the inside of the pipe

There's no pump involved, yet

As far as I know, because it's the sisters connection, the mains are feeding my pipe directly before it goes to her tank above the house. That's all that's coming off it that I know of. Problem is my bit is all uphill.

Looked at Dads pump again, wondering what fittings I need to make it suitable for my pipe? Currently it's set up for use with an inch pipe on both ends I believe.

It'd have to be the blinking weekend

Those of a Ilookaftermymachineryandbitsandbobs disposition look away now...

You didn't specify at the beginning of your tread that it's a water scheme you are drawing off and not your own well (either way though John, there's a pump involved somewhere, and I'm not referring to your 'oul lads'one as in pics!)

Prehaps your sister is at the end of the water scheme? The fact you want to pump the water UPHILL also makes the picture a whole lot clearer also!:D

You'I probably need copper compression fittings with a reducer down to 1/2". I hate using them, much prefer using the PHILMAC ones, but in this case I think you'i have to. Put some tape on the compression ring aswel and tighten well. I'd bring the pump with you to the hardware shop just to be on the safe side regarding fitting sizes.

Best of luck! Let us know how how you get on!
