Used car with No Previous Owners

    Hey there!

I looking to buy a used car (my first car actually) and have noticed a few motors (9 or 10-years old) listed on some of the popular motoring websites as having had no previous owners.

These were legitimate car dealerships and the vehicles had mostly a mileage of 70,000+ as well as upcoming NCT dates.

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences on this?

    Appreciate any help or advice.

That's just a case of the seller not filling out the add properly.

Most likely just a case of lazy salesmen not entering the details correctly.

A site like www.motorcheck.ie should give you the correct info - something I'd recommend doing for any car purchase.

How would a car clock up 70k miles with no previous owners!:P

dont know about dealers but a private sale where the owner bought the car new there would be no previous owners until it is registered in the next owners name..

If the current owner (from new) is selling then there are no previous owners.

The label on carzone just says "owners", not "previous owners". I would normally take that to mean it should include the current owner - but maybe I'm on my own there.

Or if they've imported it from the UK?
    (uk owners aren't counted)

It's just either a typo or laziness. If it is a second hand car then it must at least have had 1 owner.

I bought from that dealer... Its pure lazy on his part.. also look at the price in the garage its advertised cheaper than it usually is on the adds...

Look at the log book. dont take his word...He told me one previous owner and there was two.

Also... Do have a mechanic check. This lads mechanic only works part time if something goes wrong in warrenty....

I'm pretty sure the number of owners is a new filter on Carzone so for any ads posted previously to its introduction it will just say zero. Plus if a car has had lots of owners they would probably leave it blank too!

Thanks very much everyone for the comments - especially Joey the Lips.

I half-presumed it was just a typo on the dealers' part..... but also felt that maybe the cars were just crappy ones that went unsold back in the day and were just transported from one garage to another in the meantime (some probably are!)

Won't get the chance to check any of them out yet anyway as I did me ankle in and can barely get around at mo!

    Typical, eh? :(
