Just heard this on the radio today and it seems pretty good. Free upgrade with an 18 Month Contract. I would never go over the 350 units given either.

But, is the iPhone 4 worth an 18 month contract? I have a 3GS with no contract but I love the look on the 4! In general are 3 a decent network?

I moved from o2 to three.. Genuinly. i Find them good. 3g speeds dont seem to be amazing but grand like.ive had no 3g issues with recpetion at all.

i have an old 3g myself i might sell to a mate for cheap to get that trade in offer. i think its a class deal

oh and the trade in is only for the 60 euro pm offer only. I was told at time of contract signing 2 weeks ago that i can drop down after 6 months to the 40 pm

If you're in the city centre and don't step outside the Pale much you'll get great speeds. A mate of mine was getting stupidly fast speeds around the city, Three have started rolling out I-HSPA which is stupid fast.

I-HSPA is being rolled out in NBS areas first not 'the city centre'. Oh and there is more than one city in Ireland, not everything is centred around Dublin. I was in Cork CITY CENTRE on Friday and got 4Mbps download I'd call that great speed

    So thats 60 x 6mths €360 and then €40 x 12 months which is €480

€840 is not such a great deal.

He never told me where he was, the OP lists his location as Dublin and big whoop, Cork's a city, congrats, your inferiority complex makes me let out a hearty chortle.

But I'm currently paying 35pm on Meteor and I can't avail of any upgrades or anything of the like. 3 told me they're giving 120 off the iPhone 4 if you trade in, I reckon I'd get more for my 3GS if I just sold it privately.

If I went for the 40pm option, the phone would be 240 I think

If the 3GS is in good condition you'd get well over double the trade in offer they gave you.

Can you not work it out yourself based on which you use more, calls, texts, data etc? You go on some stranger's opinion and you may be stuck with an 18 month contract that may not suit at all.

    This is so confusing!
Ok i'm new to iPhone 4 and will be getting it on Prepay.
I want it mainly for the internet and don't care about paying for the calls/texts.

    What do you recommend??

(Apart from not getting it) :)

    Go on to
    vodafone.ie,
    o2.ie,
    three.ie,
    meteor.ie and
    emobile.ie

and see which gives the best data package for the money.

    Be nice, folks.

OP, you're probably better off checking out http://www.askcomreg.ie/mobile/mobile.45.LE.asp or talking to each of the providers to find out which one has the best price plan for your usage.

    Edit: http://www.callcosts.ie/mobile_phones/Mobile_Calculator.123.LE.asp looks useful, also.

I bought a second hand 3gs off adverts.ie and was on pay as you go with o2, but I switched to 3 after researching the different deals, main benefits of the deal are

    1) If your switching from another network you get an extra €5 a month credit when you top up by €20
    2) With regards to using internet email etc, when you top up by €20 you can then buy a 5 euro internet addon which comes out of the €20 credit, this will give you 500mb for the month.
    3) Calls wise you can phone any landline/network over the weekend for free.

So pretty happy I switch, I can now use my iphone to its full potential and think I've got the best current deal for pay as you go on Iphone.
