    Right folks this is more a question for those in the motortrade (buyers,sellers and dealers)

    My mechanic has called to say a Passat is around that I may be interested in. He has put a bid on it so i assume it is some kind of importers (he buys a lot of stuff there and has viewed the car and as he is a close friend I have no problem assuming the car is straight) For got to say the car has arrived from the UK and was dropped into his garage last night for him to view.

    Its a 2006MY, TDI (105bhp) SE with 110K on the clock.

    All belts were and everything in between. The is one small scratch on the rear quarter which has been repaired according to the history.

    It will be sold to me fully serviced etc., registered and NCT'D.

    I know how much the VRT, cost of servicing and NCT will be. How much will he be paying for the car. I'm trying to work out his profit margain so I can get the best deal possible. He is a VERY VERY hard bargainers.

    He has asked for circa €8000 for the car which isn't to bad a starting point.

    Sold to Trade recently, 2006 Passats

    196,000km - around €5,500 - Base

    135,000km - around €7,500 - Base

    120,000km - around €8,000 - Comfortline


    I think SE is roughly the same as a Comfortline, so with 177,000km it's really worth about €6,000.

    Didn't get to view it this evening unfortunately.

    It'll have to wait until next weekend, although it isn't going anywhere hence I didn't bother talking money.
