Hey people, I am looking to find out what insurance company would be the cheapest for a beginner.. I am 19 and have my full irish license about a year now.

This is my first time getting insured on a car of my own. I rang a few companys but they were asking mad money one actually quoted me 6 grand on a lil 1 litre micra that's crazy money...

I have heard of many blokes even younger than me getting insured real cheap. Anyone know any good insurers?

    Thanks

First year you're talking at least 2.5kish few places you can try though, quinn direct always used to be good for younger drivers... quoteme.ie , bestquote.ie are brokers so they'll give you a few quotes, axa and aviva also worth a try. Unfortunitly there's no quick answer all I can say is get as many quotes as possible. You can save yourself anywhere up to a grand so use that as the motivation when searching and best of luck.

I'm in the same boat and it was only last week I went in search of quotes!
FBD was the cheapest I got at 3 grand even (called into office)!
I only tried Quinn on the internet and they wouldn't quote me!
I called into Aviva and after being named on a policy of theirs for two and a half years....they wouldn't quote me.
So I dropped into the office of a broker and the only quote they could get was from Axa at 4200!
These were all fully comp, and it was only last weekend I realised fully comp is a bit of a waste for us young lads, unless your driving a new car?

fully comp is entirely pointless for new young drivers tbh. Wouldn't be worth the insurance hit even if you did do some self car damage.

no sure i only plan on getting a basic car like a colt or micra to start me off.. my friends sister just got a car and is paying 900 a year. F**king unbelievable price difference.

Although i do know a few lads who are paying 1500 wether i believe them or not is another matter ha

The reason quinn wouldn't quote is because it was fully comp, and im assuming the value of the car was quite low. They don't quote fully comp under a certain price..

    Move abroad.
    You'll get insurance way cheaper.
Then after few years come back to Irland ;)
