Christmas day in Lanzrote?

    I am going away for the first time ever for Christmas day with my family to Peurto del Carmen in Lanzarote.http://b-static.net/vbulletin/images/icons/icon7.gif What happens on Christmas day there i.e. do all of the restaurants do Christmas dinner? Do you have to book? Or is it no different to any other day. Could anybody recommend a place to go for dinner on Christmas day?

    The whole Christmas and New Year holiday period is completely different to Ireland. Here is the situation:-

    Christmas Eve is a big deal. Most Spanish places will be shut but Brit bars and restaurants will be open.

    Christmas Day is no big deal, but Spanish places will be closed but the Brit bars and restaurants will open. Advance booking is advised though.

    Spanish places will open on 27th but it is a kind of Fools Day to be celebrated.

    New Years Eve and every place will be open.

    New Years Day is a bit of a big deal in Spain but the Brit places will open

    6th January - Festival of the Kings - is a big deal and the Spanish exchane gifts like our Christmas Day.

    Depending on where you are there might be a local saint festival also.
