    Hi,
Wondering if anyone has bought clubs from the US... either on eBay or through an online shop.... I can see some good deals on 2009 models of clubs that are tempting.. But wondering will I get hit with import duties.

    regards
    Niall

OK... I've had an interesting 30 minutes reading about counterfeit clubs that have certainly given me concerns... While I have found plenty info on sites and eBay shops to stay clear of ..just wondering if anyone has had any good experience.

Mor than likely your package will be 'caught' and you will be liable for duties. I don't buy from the states anymore as I haven't found anything cheap enough to make it worth it.

Have you tried the UK stores?
    www.onlinegolf.co.uk
    www.direct-golf.co.uk
    www.snaintongolf.co.uk

They are all reputable and there are some great clearance offers around.

ive bought a few off ebay. never any hassles, have tried to ensure the dealer is reputable (feedback, etc..). some have been caught for customs (usually if they come via fedex or us) others have got through (via usps).

Just out of curiousity ... when they get caught for customs, what do they charge you??
Is it the VAT rate on what you paid or the VAT rate against what they deem it would sell for here?

if its fedex/ups then they automatically charge the duty (21%) and an "administration fee" of around 30 quid afair. an post only charge the duty if it gets nabbed.

The rate is also calculated on the item plus the postage, so a €100 club plus €30 postage means duty on €130.
