while im well aware of the law regarding the sale of alcohol at off licences and shops etc eg no sales after 10pm,whats the legality regarding the sale of alcohol outside of licenced premises e.g an all night home delivery service,I found a facebook page claiming to sell/deliver alcohol 24/7 and was wondering if this is legal or not as i would like to avail of this service if needs be at house parties etc if supplies run low,but will not be doing business with them if its not legal as i just dont break the law, thanks p's you may need a facebook account to view this page http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000523460905#!/profile.php?id=100000785894289&v=wall

The key is in your question... sale outside of licenced premises

Unfortunately illegal. Handy, but illegal :pac:

ah ok i was suspecting it wasnt legal,i just thought there might of been a loophole or something in the law when it comes to deliveries as the sale is taking place outside of a licenced premises I wasnt sure if the same rules applied or not, thanks

The Gardaí/Customs and Excise will be very interested in that facebook page.

Wasn't there a delivery company trying to test if there was a loophole in this? You make the payment online to a Spanish company who then employ an "agent" to deliver the booze to your house in the dead of night.

Well to be honest if it was 5.00 am on a Sunday morning and I wanted more booze the legalities of getting it then wouldnt really factor, be prepared to pay through the nose however.

There are so many places in Dublin to get booze after hours that it is incredible. I wouldn't pay these guys for delivery personally.

Depends of course when the "purchase" takes place.

If bought using a credit card before closing time, the alcohol is the property of the consumer, the vendor is just delivering it up to them outside closing time.

They would still have to be licenced at that time though AFAIK?
