Whats the law reguarding tinted windows?
Can they pass the nct? what %?

also can anyone reccommend somewhere i can get tints done in or near donegal?

Much would it cost for a 00 civic hatch, all tinted.

If an inspector deems that the windscreen or front side windows are excessively tinted, the level of light transmission
of the window should be tested using light meter capable of measuring the amount of light transmitted through the
windscreen and the side windows along side the driver to an accuracy of ± 3% and suitable for reliable use in an
    inspection centre environment.

That is for the side windows on the front and the windscreen.

However having an NCT does not exclude you from being summoned for tinted windows by a Garda.

At the side of the road a Garda can summon you for excessive tinting if the windows are tinted excessively in their opinion. (Only about 80% sure on that though as readers were meant to be brought in but I haven't heard anything)

    Yeah cheers man.

I know the guards can summon you any time for them, i'm wondering if i get tints done now for €250 say, i dont want to be taking them of for the nct in a years time or so.

So was just wondering what % of tint passes the nct, if any?

It has to let 65% light in, so your allowed up to 35% tint.

so is that 35% just for the front doors?
