Uk Licence query

I have a full UK licence for categories B, B1 and fkp

Yesterday I passed my theory test for categories A, and M in Ireland.

Firstly is it ilegal to hold two eu licences from different countries in two separate categories as in UK car and Irish bike?

Secondly after passing my A and M driving test will I be able to add the A and M categories onto my current UK licence?

Thirdly does it state anywhere that I have to change my UK licence to an Irish one after a certain amount of time. (I couldn't find it anywhere)

    Cheers in advance.

If you have a UK licence you don't need an Irish one. Neither do you have to change it to an Irish one. Part of an EU treaty, Treaty of Dublin. All EU licences are valid in all member states.

I have know people with UK and Irish licences at the same time.

Unsure about the technicalities of your first 2 points. I'd suggest you contact the DVLA and ask about that.

As for changing your UK licence:
Holders of licences issued by an EU/EEA member state

If you have a driving licence issued by an EU/EEA member state you can drive in Ireland as long as your existing licence is valid.

I've a UK licence too. Been stopped loads of times and never had it queried. I also went through the ADI process with it without a problem. I've actually just renewed it for another 10 years

My UK licence wont let me drive motor bikes.

Thanks for the replies. I was curious about the third point but its really the first two I really need to know about.

I had a UK licence for 16yrs until last year when i had to change it to An irish one to add a category C to it so it would be safe to assume the same goes with an A or any other category......... once you have changed your licence to an irish for the benefit of adding a category, you can ring swansea to change it back to a Uk licence, that is providing you give them a UK address.

No you cant hold a UK and Irish licence at the same time.i asked this last year to my local authority

by the way........ im guessing your UK licence is new, because Cat M was put on automatically when you passed your B licence in the Uk up until recently anyway.......... think thats right anyway.
