If I were to get the 15mb broadband, would I be able to play online gaming well... I really want to play MW and Halo online.

    Thanks :D

Yeah, I have 2mb from eircom and I can play online on the PC while my brother is on the PS3. Thats along with other devices like phone and ipod browsing the web too.

Just because UPC market the 15mb towards gamers, doesn't mean you need anything like that to play.

Pings are generally lower than fastpath DSL, so should be a good deal lower than a DSL line with high interleaving.

When I had Ntl BB, ping was never and issue, nor is it with eircom now. I should have mentioned it it the first post, but I assumed you were just concerned with the speed.

You don't need 15Mbit for gaming, 1or 2Mbit would work just the same. Games aren't heavy on bandwidth, often little more than 100kbps each way

  • Upload speed (hosting 16player games) and & ping are important for gaming.
I have UPC 30/3meg and my gaming has never been better.
Consistantly higher scoring COD for eg.
Had Eircom 7meg, high and even medium interleaving (got them to switch it) just killed all my FPS games.

To reinforce this point, I'm gaming fine on my PS3 right now with just a Meteor 3G dongle.

I've had UPC 20 Mb and there was no problems with online gaming. Recently changed to their 8Mb package, and no problems either.
