I am having a velux window fitted (hopefully)
I will buy the window and flashing.

How much should it cost approx for the following......

    Fit window.
Build tunnel down from window to ceiling. Thats 8 feet.
Plaster the tunnel and leave ready for decoration.

One rafter will be removed to fit window and therefore similar opening in ceiling . Struts/bridgeing will be placed where required.
There are no pipes, tanks wires etc in the way.

    Thanks

dont forget to insulate the walls of the tunnel. or else you will have huge heat loss through the plasterboard its a common mistake

...and consider flaring the opening so that it gets larger as you move away from the Velux. That way you get more light in (and can consider a smaller velux so as to reduce heatloss.

You can flare out front to back easily (parallel to the joists) -. Flaring out side to side means more joist removal at ceiling level and mightn't be worth the trouble.

As far as I know, you have to strip the roof from apex down to the Velux to install, so time spent would depend a lot on how far from the apex your windows going to go.

I will insulate tunnel myself (my cost) and I think velux will be installed about three tile spaces from the ridge tile. .
So what would the cost be based on all above info.
    Thanks

1/2 day to measure job/pick up & unload materials at worksite
1 days to fit Velux and reinstate roof
1 day to construct box + plaster + clean up
    Materials 100 euro

Say labour at 200 per day? Then you're looking at 600 quid.
