    hi all

just booked a flight from cork to usa for early 2011. first bit is cork to london via aer lingus and then on to usa with virgin. i booked with orbitz and find the whole situation confusing

i usually book direct but orbitz were so much cheaper , i couldnt ignore it.

i presume i cant check in on line with the air lines as i have booked via orbitz?
whats the baggage allowance? with a cork to london flight you would always have to pay for the bag but i cant do this now as i booked through orbitz
should i just arrive at the desk on the day or do i have to tell them about the bags in advance?

    thanks for any help

Orbitz will have given you the booking references for each airline, or it will be in your details on their website. You should be able to check in online with that info.

Any time I've booked with them (5 or 6 times) the baggage was included for the first leg.

thanks for that. i only saw the ref numbers after your post :-)

the virgin one works perfect but the aer lingus one says booking ref not correct. is it possible that it takes a few days for the ref to start working when i booked it with orbitz?

There is no guarantee it will work with Aer Lingus at all, and online check-in may/may not always work with 3rd party bookings.

Re: the baggage you get Virgin's baggage allowance all the way to/from Cork - so no paying for bags with Aer Lingus.
